The first death anniversary of journalist Debdas Kundu was organised here, where several eminent citizens paid rich tributes to him describing him as a very honest, frank and dedicated person. Kundu had died at the age of 54 years.
Sadar MlA Jiban Pradip Dash, Remuna MlA Sudarshan Jena, Jaleswar MlA Debiprasanna Chand, former MlA Arun Dey, additional director of ITR Binay Das, industrialist Himandu Das, social worker Subasini Jena, Baleswar regional improvement trust chairman Gouri Rout, poet Prasanta Das and Prahallad Mohanty, among others, spoke.
The programme was organised by Debdas Kundu memorial committee. Two journalists Akshay Sahu and Sitaram Patra were felicitated for excellence in State and district level journalism. Six poor and needy tribal students got cash assistance for study from Krushnadas Kundu, father of late Kundu.
