Condemning the inhuman attitude of the BSF personnel for misbehaving with a local scribe, the district Odisha Union of Journalists (OUJ) submitted a memorandum to the SW Range DIG and IG BSF, Koraput on Monday.

In the memorandum submitted through the district Superintendent of Police Sudhansu Shekhar Mishra, the OUJ demanded proper investigation into the matter and stringent action against the guilty.  The body further demanded the BSF personnel involved in the incident to tender an unconditional apology for their misbehaviour.

Notably, a local scribe was ill-treated by the BSF jawans between Ralegada-Sunki, while he was returning from Vishakapatnam on Friday.

The BSF jawans detained the vehicle and asked for the documents. When they asked him about his identity, the scribe showed his Reporter’s card.

He also threatened to lodge a false NDPS case by keeping ganja in the vehicle.

After tendering an apology, the scribe managed to leave the spot from the clutch of the errant BSF personnel and reported the matter reported the matter to Koraput SP on the same day.

It is not a single case of the BSF personnel in the name of checking are routinely harassing the common citizens, including patients those who are travelling to Visakhapatnam, alleged district OUJ president, Susant Behera. Among others, scribes laxmikanta Panda, Basant Rath, Saroj Patnaik, Siba Sankar Padhy, Gopal Nayak and Kabiraj Bissoi were present.
