Young scientists should focus on building a scientific career by undertaking advanced research with an overall objective of providing answers to fundamental questions in the cell and developmental biology.

This was observed by Presidency University, Kolkata Vice-Chancellor Prof Anuradha lohia at the Institute of life Science’s (IlS) foundation day function here on Tuesday.

She also said research could provide clue to understanding of molecular mechanisms for developing target approaches and applications in the field of life sciences. They should also carry out translational research so that outcome of their research is used for benefit of the human society, she added.

Speaking to the IlS staffs and students, Dr lohia said a scientist’s journey is difficult as one has to obtain grants, publish papers, ensure success of PhD students and make sense of the data one generates.

IlS Director Dr Ajay Parida complimented the inspiring talk of lohia and spoke on the activities of the IlS focussing on advanced research in life sciences being carried out.

On the occasion, Ankita Shresta, Debasis Deb, Sunanda Mallik, Ashish Kumar and Shefaily Parmer were felicitated for their research achievements.
