The State Government on Saturday announced that schools across the State would reopen on January 8.

Initially, the schools would reopen for Classes-X and XII students. Classes would be held for Class-X students from January 8 to April 26 and for Class-XII students from January 8 to April 28.

Practical examinations for Class-X students would be held from April 27 to May 2 and for Class-XII students from April 29 to May 14.

The Government further informed the the board examinations for Class-X students would be conducted from May 3 to 15. The Council of Higher Secondary Education would hold exams for Class-XII from May 15 to June 11.

This decision has been taken keeping in view the larger interest of these students so that they can timely appear for All-India competitive tests, a statement issued by the Government said.

The Government also released a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) after announcing its decision to reopen schools.

As per the SOP, online learning would continue to be the preferred mode of teaching and would be encouraged. But students may attend schools with the written consent of parents. Attendance must not be enforced and must depend entirely on parental consent.

Online and classroom learning would go in tandem with each other and continue to share timelines and daily schedules.

Where schools are conducting online classes and some students prefer to attend online classes rather than physically attend school, they may be permitted to do so, the SOP added.
