Schools in the State which are closed due to the Covid-19 lockdown would not reopen on the previously-scheduled date of June 17, informed School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Sunday.
A decision in this regard was taken in view of the new lockdown guidelines issued by the Central Government on Saturday, he said.
As per the guidelines, schools and other educational institutions in the country would be opened after consultations with the States and UTs. The State Governments and UT asdministrations have been advised to hold consultations at the institution level with parents and other stakeholders in this regard.
Based on the feedback, a decision on the reopening of the educational institutions would be taken in July. The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare would prepare an SOP for these institutions.
