Four Government school headmasters on Thursday lodged complaints at the Bhawanipatna Town police station against some leaders who forcefully took kids from their schools to the protest meeting at the Kalahandi district Collector’s office here.
Notably, over a thousand of school kids joined the ongoing protest meeting on Monday seeking immediate takeover of the Sardar Raja Medical College by the State Government. Some leaders forcibly took the children themselves to the protest site while some others took children by luring them with chocolates and promises of picnics, alleged some parents.
The incident raised a stink because the parents initially thought their children had been kidnapped. Child rights activist Suman Rani Tripathy said involving school-children in a protest is illegal and those responsible should be punished. The districts’s Collector D Brindha said an inquiry would be done by a committee led by the DEO . “It is recklessness and irresponsibility on parts of the schoolteachers that led to this unfortunate incident. Actions would be taken on receipt of the report,” he said.
