Enraged by alleged physical and mental torture by their Headmistress, students of the Kendua Nodal High School in Shyamakhunta block of Mayurbhanj district walked miles to the Collector’s office to raise their grievances before him on Thursday.
Sources said 17 students, including girls, of the school walked for 15 km to meet Collector Vineet Bhardwaj. However, neither the Collector nor any other district official was present at the Collectorate till last reports came in.
The students alleged that the Headmistress has been torturing them both mentally and physically. They are not even being provided with adequate food at the school. They warned that they would not return to the school unless the matter is taken into consideration by the authorities forthwith.
However, no district official was available to comment on the matter.
