School blast: BJP demands Minister's resignation

Published on:

BJP leader and State party executive body member Dillip Mallick has demanded resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda in the bomb explosion incident at the Ayatpur Government High School at Kandarpur in Cuttack. Notably, at least 20 students were injured when a crude bomb, apparently brought by a Class IX student, went off on Monday creating shock wave across the city.

Flaying the Minister’s order to suspend a teacher of the school in the case, he said the bomb explosion is a serious issue which speaks volume about the deteriorating law and order in Cuttack.

He hit out at the Commissionerate police and held them solely responsible for the mishap.

Describing the explosion as a rare incident in the State due to security lapses and the freehand enjoyed by the goons and anti-socials, Mallick said that Kandarpur area has gained a dubious reputation for manufacture of crude bombs and their open sale in the market.

He lamented that due to lax security the bomb came to the school and demanded strong action against the culprits, apart from an impartial probe into the incident.
