The SCB Medical College and Hospital authorities here on Wednesday appeared before the two-member National Commission for Women (NCW) Inquiry Committee of Hemlata Kheria and Manasi Pradhan and apologised for not complying with the order of the National Commission for Women in connection with the Khandapada gangrape victim who is now undergoing treatment at the SCB in a critical condition.

SCB Superintendent Dr Shyama Kanungo along with two other doctors of ENT and FMT departments explained the committee that due to negligence of junior doctors treating the victim did not inform the higher authorities about the NCW visit thereby not complying with the National Commission for Women order.

Quoting the Hospital Superintendent, Pradhan informed that a gross miscommunication has been made by the junior doctors treating the victim. The committee too collected all relevant documents along with an explanation from the Superintendent.

“After verifying the documents collected today, we will visit the victim at the SCB on September 6 for further interrogation and verification of records,” said Pradhan.
