SCB ragging disgrace amicably settled

The row over the alleged ragging incident at the SCB Medical College here, in which a junior girl student was apparently harassed by some of her seniors, was amicably settled on Friday with the intervention of their respective parents.

“Although an FIR has been registered in this connection, due process of law would be followed if the matter has been amicably settled between the parties,” said Manglabag police station Inspector AK Swain, adding that the college authorities have been asked to file a report on the matter.

While the college authorities informed that the matter has been amicably settled, the victim’s father also confirmed the same, saying an understanding was reached between the students in which it was agreed by both the parties not to precipitate the matter further.

According to reports, a Fourth Year MBBS student had lodged a police complaint alleging that some of her seniors abused her in filthy language and made lewd gestures at her while watching the annual movie show on the Republic Day on Thursday.

Acting upon the complaint, the police had

recorded the statements of the victim and registered a case against four accused students.
