SCB nursing students' stir continues in city

Published on:

A three-member committee that was asked to enquire into the allegations made against the SCB hospital’s nursing school Principal, on Thursday evening, submitted its report to the hospital superintendent in a sealed cover. The superintendent in turn has sent the report to the State government for appropriate action.

Alleging misbehaviour by the principal and using insulting languages, the nursing school students are on strike boycotting the hospital duties for the past three days.

While a police case was registered against the principal, the Hospital Superintendent had formed an in-house committee to look into the allegations of the students.

Earlier, State Nursing Director lingaraj Mishra and an Additional Secretary in the Health Department had failed to convince the striking students to call off their indefinite stir after holding daylong parleys with the hospital authorities and the striking students. The students refused to relent stating that they wouldn’t budge an inch until their principal is removed.

The day also witnessed acrimonious scenes in the hospital campus as activists of opposition political parties stormed into it attempting to fish in the muddy water. At one point of time, cracks appeared among the striking students when the seniors and juniors entered into a fisticuff leading to police complaints.
