Demanding immediate removal of their Principal, the students of SCB Medical College hospital’s nursing school here on Tuesday launched an indefinite strike and boycotted hospital duties. The nursing students’ boycott of duties, however, has not affected the health services of the hospital.
The students are alleging that their Principal Kajal Rani Sinha is constantly harassing them, and last week she misbehaved with a student making derogatory remarks on her caste. “The Principal is using very offensive languages and is beating us causing injuries,” a nursing student alleged.
After bringing this to the notice of the Hospital Superintendent last Thursday, the students on Tuesday marched in a procession and submitted an ultimatum to the Superintendent threatening that they would not join in their duties until the Principal is removed.
Sinha, however, remained incommunicado despite repeated attempts were made to get her reaction over the allegations by the students. Sources in the office of the Hospital Superintendent said an in-house committee has been formed to inquire into the allegations.
