Upset over the inaction of the State Government in shifting their Principal and lifting sine die from their school, the aggrieved students of the SCB Nursing School, Cuttack, who are on strike since May 8, on Tuesdayagain took to the streets in the capital city to press for their demands.
“On May 17, we had met Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak seeking justice. He assured us to initiate step to lift the sine die and take action against the Principal, but nothing tangible has happened as yet even after seven days have elapsed,” said an agitating student.
The students took out a huge procession along Mahatma Gandhi Marg and organsied a protest meeting in front of the State Assembly to highlight the injustice meted out to them by the Principal and also by the Government.
later, a delegation of students met the Additional Health Secretary and submitted a memorandum to him.
On May 16, the aggrieved students had too met Health and Family Welfare Secretary Arti Ahuja and submitted a memorandum to her seeking her intervention to resolve the impasse. Terming the closure of the school sine die as arbitrary and unjustified, the students last month had urged the teachers to teach them on roads.
Students of the school have filed complaints against Principal Kajal Rani Sinha at the Mangalabag police station accusing her of harassing them physically and mentally and making cattiest remarks. The police have already booked the Principal on a complaint by a victim student.
The students threatened to resort to an indefinite strike if the Government fails to ensure justice to them at the earliest.
