SCB junior docs' strike continues

Published on:

Despite the arrest of a person, who had allegedly attacked a junior doctor of the SCB Medical College Hospital on Monday, the junior doctors ceased work for the second day on Tuesday in protest against the attack.

Although the Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) claimed that the house surgeons and resident doctors have also joined the cease-work stir, the hospital authorities refused to confirm this and maintained that healthcare facilities have not been affected yet due to the doctors’ strike.

Trouble started on Monday afternoon when some attendants of a patient allegedly attacked junior doctor Samir Ranjan Behera after the patient died just hours after her admission in the hospital. Demanding safety measures and arrest of the culprits, the JDA decided to launch an indefinite stir.
