SC rejects petition to disqualify NCP MlAs

Published on:

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the petition of Utkal Keshari Parida of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) seeking disqualification of four former NCP MlAs of the State for joining the BJD in 2012, on the ground that it was infructuous.

Parida had sought the intervention of the apex court after he failed to get any relief from the Speaker of the State Assembly and the High Court.

In June 2012, MlAs Amar Satpathy, Prashant Nanda, Nabin Nanda and Ramchandra Hansda, who were elected on NCP tickets, had joined the BJD and termed it as the NCP’s merger with the ruling party. This had been challenged by the NCP State president Parida.
