SC declines to stay HC verdict on Sardar medicos

In a major relief to the students of Kalahandi Jaringi-based Sardar Rajas Medical College and Research Centre (SRMC&RC), the Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to pass an interim order to stay the Orissa High Court’s verdict allowing relocation of the medicos of this private medical college.

While hearing a Special leave Petition (SlP) filed by three Government-run medical college students who appealed to the court for a stay on the admission process, the Supreme Court advised the petitioner to appeal in the Odisha High Court.

The SC has posted the next hearing on the SlP to January 5.

On Tuesday, students of MKCG, VIMSAR medical colleges and SCB Dental College had filed the SlP in the SC.

Meanwhile, counsel of the petitioner said he would appeal in the HC on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the admission process for 124 MBBS students of the SRMC&RC has started. The HC had directed the State Government to relocate the 124 MBBS students of the SRMC&RC at two Government-run and three private medical colleges.
