The Freethought Party of India (FPI) has condemned the forcible separation of Niku Patra (22) and Jhansirani Achary (22) since May 5 and has urged upon the DGP of the State to do justice to them who have undergone love marriage recently but faced social and family ire.The couple belongs to Phasula (Ward 9), Shyamsundarpur, Khallikote in Ganjam district.

FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire expressed surprise that while all young women of India who are 18+ have been declared as 100 per cent sovereign by the Supreme Court to choose their life partners , Jhansirani and her husband Niku, instead of being allowed to stay happily as a newly wedded couple, have been kept separate from each other since May 5 even though the matter has been brought to the notice of the Khalikote police. The party demanded immediate steps by police to unite the couple.
