Satellite survey for roads in remote villages

Published on:

The State Government on Monday said satellite surveys would be conducted to map inaccessible villages like Nagada and, accordingly, roads would be constructed to connect these villages with mainland.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi at the State Secretariat here.

Due to inaccessibility, Government welfare programmes are not reaching the people of such villages. Villagers, especially women and children, are also not getting health services at all.

While it has been difficult for Government officials to reach such villages, the only way to map villages is the satellite. The Odisha Space Application Centre (ORSAC) would conduct the satellite surveys and provide data soon so that road works would begin as early as possible, said an official.
