Revenue and Disaster Management department Additional Chief Secretary Taradutt on Sunday paid a visit to the sea erosion-prone Satabhaya area with other senior officials of the district in order to discuss with the people on the problem of sea erosion and also to take stock of the progress of the Biju Nagar resettlement colony work at Bagapatia.

After reaching Satabhaya, Taradutt went to Kanpur village, where a major portion of the village had been gulped by the crawling of sea. later, he interacted with the inhabitants on their rehabilitation at a meeting near a school at Satabhaya.

The villagers brought to notice of Taradutt how they had been living under constant fear of being washed away by sea water and also how the administration had been betraying them for long years on rehabilitating them at a safer place.

The locals alleged that due to the apathy of the administration, the Biju Nagar resettlement colony work has been moving at a snail’s pace and demanded benefits under several Government sponsored schemes, besides appealing Taradutt to ensure that the resettlement colony is finished and the villagers relocated there as soon as possible.

Taradutt assured the people that all Government schemes would be implemented for them only after they shift to the resettlement colony at Bagapatia. He said that each beneficiary would get 10 decimal of land at the new colony and houses under the Mo Kudia scheme. Taradutt asked the villagers to shift to the colony and live in temporary sheds till pucca houses were provided to them. He said that the villagers could also get work under the MGNREGS in the new colony.

District Collector Ratnakar Rout, who was present in the meeting also urged Taradutt to provide Mo Kudia houses to 575 beneficiaries in the village.

later, Taradutt visited the proposed Biju Nagar resettlement colony and expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing land demarcation works in the site and boundary fencing. He directed the tehsildar of Rajnagar to complete the land demarcation process before March 10. Nodal officer of Satabhaya rehabilitation project Pratap Mishra too was present.
