Gamblers are having a field day here as they manage to spread their activities without bar with the local police having failed to crack down on them.
Here also cyber-crime cases have increased with involvement of cheating of lakhs of rupees.
According to the source, more than 20 owners of sata are active in the town. The sata gambling has different names like Nagmani, Bhutnath, New Bhutnath, Kurukhetra, Kalyana, Mumbai and so on. They are particularly very active in Hatpada, Talipada, Bhatlichowk, private bus stand, railway station, Ambapali and even at the Government Hospital areas of Bargarh town. The youths have been their prime target.
The lure of money in gambling attracts many to throw their hat in the ring but most of the time they end up losing their bets and left heart broken. The illegal game is also forcing many to do crime as sata has grown a sort of habit, the sources said.
The police administration was able to find out the culprits and nab them earlier. But the gamblers have adopted hi-tech methods qof late. They are now playing the game online.
They are booking the number in their mobile and taking their wining money from the owner in a solitary place. For that police administration has failed to find out them.
The affected youths are involved in loot, robbery and several other crimes for earning easy money. The game has spread in urban areas like the Tora, Bordol, Cement Nagar and Panichhatra areas. The local public of Bargarh has urged the police administration to rein in the gamblers by adopting new methods.
