lawyers of all courts and tribunals here, including the High Court, on Wednesday boycotted their courts in protest against the State Government’s decision to abolish the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).
Since the High Court would remain closed for next four days, litigants seeking immediate judicial relief were left in a lurch. Protesting last week’s Cabinet approval to get rid of the SAT, High Court lawyers on Tuesday had given the boycott call urging the Government not to go ahead with what they called “arbitrary” decision.
“Neither lawyers of the High Court nor other lawyers of the State were taken into confidence before the decision was put for Cabinet approval,” alleged High Court Bar Association president Ashok Mohapatra.
