Two trustees of the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Charitable Trust that runs the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital (IMSSH) have reportedly sought more time to appear before the Khandagiri police in connection with the probe into the fire tragedy at the SUM Hospital that killed 30 people.

Earlier, the duo had sought a 15-day extension which ended on Friday. For the third such time, hospital owner Manoj Ranjan Nayak’s wife Saswati Das and sister Arati Ranjana Nayak have sought an extension of seven days to appear before the police citing health reasons.

For the first time on October 27, the Khandagiri police had summoned the duo to appear before them in a week’s time. However, both failed to turn up for questioning. Following this, lookout Circulars were issued against them. The two trustees have moved the Orissa High Court as far back as on October 26 seeking anticipatory bail.

Earlier, Manoj Nayak, one of the trustees, was arrested and subsequently released on bail.
