With Sarpanches having been vested with Collector’s power Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Markona gram panchayat Sarpanch in Baleswar district declared a 48-hour complete shutdown in the GP on Wednesdayas a preventive measure of Covid-19.
“The gram panchayat will be under shutdown from 6 am on May 14 to 6 am on May 16,” informed Sarpanch Pradeep Kumar Behera.
The decision was taken in public interest to prevent spread of coronavirus as large numbers of migrant workers have returned to the village from different parts of the country, he stated.
