To avenge the defeat in the recently held Panchayat elections, a defeated candidate along with supporters attacked a newly elected Sarapanch and her family members on Friday.
The incident took place at Rajadang GP under Khamar police station limits.
Sarapanch Bidyabharati Samal alleged that when the Dola festival was underway in the village, three miscreants came suddenly in front of her house and attacked her husband Sanjaya Kumar Samal, elder brother Brajamohan Samal, younger brother Saroj Samal and their sister's husband Nirupama Samal with sharp weapons. Soon a bloodshed took place.
Being informed the Khamar police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Khamar hospital. The situation was tense but the police brought it under control. No body was arrested in the case till filing of the report.
