Sarkhel shifted to Choudwar jail

Published on:

Trade unionist and Congress leader Bapi Sarkhel, who is serving judicial remand in connection with the Seaways Shipping and logistic ltd general manager Mahendra Swain killing case, was shifted from the Alipingal Sub-Jail to the Choudwar Central Jail on Friday.

The official report described the shifting was a routine procedure, but sources said overfull of under-trails was the reason. Soon after his arrest, Sarkhel had been put in Samagola Jail near Kujang. He was then shifted to the Alipingal jail as his supporters resorted to repeated protests at the Samagola jail.

Meanwhile, after Bapi’s bail application was rejected by the Kujang JMFC Court, he has moved the District and Sessions Judge Court here for seeking bail. The court has asked police to submit CDs of the case while fixing the hearing on the bail application for December 26.
