A general executive body meeting of contract labourers working at the Paradeep Phosphates limited (PPl) was held here under the chairmanship of labour union leader Bapi Sarkhel on Friday. Around 4,000 labourers attended the meeting.
Association president Sarkhel said he is committed to work for protection and betterment of labourers working in the Paradip industrial area. Seeking support of workers for their welafre, Sarkhel said, “Economic development of workers is a major issue, and I urge the workers to work united for their betterment.”
He warned the authorities against any unfair activities, saying illegal dismissal of workers from companies would not be tolerated. Among others, labour leaders Santosh Swain, Golekh Das, Pratap Hajari, were present at the meeting.
