Sarathi Baba to be under CB surveillance

Self-styled godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Roul, who was released on a bail on Thursday, would be under the lens of the State Crime Branch police.

The Crime Branch would keep an eye on activities of Sarathi to ensure that he follows the bail conditions set by the Orissa High Court.

In case he defies the court order, stringent action would be taken against him, said Crime Branch ADG Santosh Upadhyay on Friday.

Sarathi walked out of bail from Choudwar jail after four years, after the High Court granted him conditional bail last week. But interestingly, after his release his whereabouts are unknown.

The controversial godman was arrested by the Crime Branch on August 8, 2015 from his Barimula ashram in Kendrapada district on charges of sexual and physical exploitation of women apart from defrauding devotees.
