Union Minister, MSME, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Pratap Sarangi has written a letter to the Divisional Railway Manager(DRM), Kharagpur, urging installation of escalators in the Baleswar railway station.
In view of growing number of passengers movements due to several prominent establishments in the district the, escalators are the need of hours, he said.Sarangi said that Baleswar besides housing several large, medium and small scale industries also has prominent defence establishments like PXE, ITR and EME etc.
Further, the headquarters town has a medical college, the Central institute of Plastic Engineering (CIPET), Central schools and other prominent training institutions. Besides, it has other establishments of the IOCL etc.In view of these establishments, the passengers’ traffic has increased manifold in the recent years, Sarangi told.The railway station while has a lift provision, Sarangi urged the department DRM Manoranjan Pradhan to provide at least two escalators in the platforms for the convenience of the commuting passengers.
