Sarada in poll trouble in R'kela for chit fund link

Published on:

During the ongoing election process, the show-cause notice issued by Justice RK Patra, the commission who is investigating the chit fund scam in the State, to BJD Rourkela candidate Sarada Prasad Nayak on the petition of a duped investor, Khuku Biswal, has put Nayak in trouble and it may affect his electoral prospects.

Source said Nayak was the president of the Sundargarh District Multi-Cooperative limited, in which Khuku Biswal had invested Rs10,000 on May 16, 2005 and as per the terms and conditions, she was to get Rs20,000 as maturity value on May 16, 2012. But she was not paid the amount.

like Khuku, many more who were denied maturity value lodged FIRs at the Bondhamunda police station on December 13, 2013 against Nayak and other officials of the organisation. As the police did not take any action, she lodged a complaint to Justice Patra, who has issued the notice to Nayak asking him to reply as to “why the petition will not be admitted for hearing”.Meanwhile, the Congress and the BJP have targeted Nayak on the issue during their election campaigns. The BJP has also demanded arrest of Nayak.
