A student of the Rastriya Sanskruta Sansthan was abducted and raped by an unidentified youth here on Wednesday night. The matter came to the fore after the Kumbarpada police noticed the girl weeping near the sea beach during night patrolling. The victim lodged a complaint with the GRP on Thursday.
According to complaint, the girl was from Brahmapur. She had boarded the Surat-Puri train at the Khordha Road station and arrived at Puri platform at 7 pm. On the way she lost her cell phone. One youth promised to return her phone and took her to a deserted place outside the platform where he raped her and fled. The GRP have started investigation after registering a rape case.
