'Sans Basu, Indian political history incomplete'

Published on:

Jyoti Basu was a great political leader and visionary of India and leaving him the political history is incomplete, opined speakers in a meeting organised on his birth centenary observation.

Seminar ‘Indian politics and Jyoti Basu’ was organised on the occasion. Former CPM MlA Pradipta Panda presided over it. Basu left an unparalleled foot prints in the Indian history, while he proved his organisational ability since student life.

He became one of the most popular leaders of his time. As a disciplined leader, he discharged the appropriate responsibilities during right occasions, the speakers said. They observed that on different occasions, while Basu proved his committed stands towards secularism, he had the ability to reach the common men maintaining honesty and integrity.

Rising against the narrow politics, he always looked after the State interest as prime despite being in adverse position during his more than half a decade active political career, including Chief Minister for a long period, they maintained. Among others, Brajanath Rath, former Minister Maheswar Bag, former Member of legislative Assembly Arun Dey,  Himansu Sekhar Nandi, Santosh Das, Jayant Das, R Sri Dev, Gouranga Panigrahi  and Nirmal Nayak spoke.
