A sandalwood tree has allegedly been stolen from the premises of the Governor’s House here, raising a serious question over the standard of security at the Raj Bhavan.

The theft reportedly took place on Tuesday. On the basis of a complaint filed by Raj Bhavan officials, the Capital police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances under which the valuable tree went missing.

Cops are examining the CCTV footage to identify those who stole the tree.

“Some suspects are under our scanner. We will apprehend the accused soon,” a police official said.

Notably, this has happened days before the scheduled visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Odisha from November 10. During her two-day visit to the State, she will stay at the Raj Bhavan
