A red sandalwood tree was dug and cut in the Sri Krushna Chandra Gajapati (SKCG) Autonomous College premises here on Wednesday. College Principal Dr UK Sahu said that last year too, a red sandalwood tree had been cut and stolen from the college campus.

Dr Sahu said that due the lack of security at the college, this kind of incident is taking place. “We have been asking the Government for a security system, but no step is taken yet.”  There have been several cases of theft of computers and laptops from the campus.

last year when a red sandalwood tree was stolen, a complaint was filed to the local forest officer, but there is no response to this till the date.

Dr Sahu also said that the college authorities have filed an FIR at the Paralakhemundi police station regarding Wednesday’s sandalwood tree theft.

Parlakhemundi police station IIC Babuli Nayak, after receiving the FIR, said the matter would be taken very seriously and the culprits would be caught at the earliest.
