The State Government’s act of increasing electricity tariff without taking views of common people is an undemocratic and anti-people step,” said Samruddha Odisha president Dr Jatish Chandra Mohanty in a statement here on Friday.
Mohanty said it is but a lollipop for the consumers for not revising the tariff up to consumption of 50 units. Besides, everyone knows about the very negligible use of power in the agricultural sector in Odisha; so, no tariff hike for farm purposes is a gimmick on the Government’s part.
The tariff hike beyond 50 units would put an extra burden on poor people. If the Government does not roll back its decision, the Samruddha Odisha would support protest.
