The Samruddha Odisha has submitted a memorandum to the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) demanding that the State Chief Secretary be directed to immediately implement the rights body’s March 2007 decision which has asked the Government to develop a scheme for provision of homestead land to urban green card holders.
Though the rights body had asked the State Government to do the same long back in March 19, 2007, the latter is yet to implement it, alleged Samruddha Odisha secretary general Prabir Mohanty.
“Hence, the Convenor of the State Planning Board and Policy Making Cabinet Committee should immediately direct the Chief Secretary to implement the OHRC’s decision to formulate a scheme to give green card beneficiaries homestead land in villages adjacent to urban centres, if not in cities,” he claimed. However, the commission has assured to take necessary steps in this direction, Mohanty informed at a Press meet here on Wednesday.
