The Samruddha Odisha on Tuesday demanded a CBI probe into the misappropriation of funds meant for paddy farmers who are depositing their produce at the mandis opened by the Government.
“The State Government has completely failed to open mandis to purchase paddy from farmers. Officials have prepared false list of farmers to loot fund meant for them. Moreover, cheque books are being issued in the name of farmers without their knowledge,” said party secretary general Prabir Mohanty to reporters here.
He alleged that the Government and bank officials along with brokers have been looting crores of rupees of farmers through in forged manner.
“We demand a CBI inquiry to know the fact behind the reasons of non-opening mandis and misappropriation of funds meant for poor farmers,” added Mohanty.
