Sammilan wants Odia school in J’khand

The Utkal Sammillani demanded establishment of a special Odia school in Jharkhand on the occasion of the Shadheikala-Kharasuan Divas on Monday.

“Our repeated efforts for inclusion of many Odia inhabited areas, including Shadheikala and Kharasuan, in Odisha during formation of Odisha, Gadajat merger post Independence and formation of Jharkhand have remained unfulfilled. While Odia letters are being taught in Jharkhand since 2003-04, Odia has been recognised as the second State language in the neighbouring State since 2011,” said Sammilani’s Mancheshwar Industrial Estate Branch president Dillip Dashsharma.

Dashsharma said a special Odia school needs to be opened in Jharkhand soon for promotion of Odia language.
