In a heartrending incident, a woman killed her two daughters by forcibly putting them under water in a pond at Bamara village under the Kuchinda police station in Sambalpur on Friday.
After killing her daughters, the woman attempted to commit suicide. However, some neighbours prevented her from the attempt. The woman was identified as Baijayanti Mahai, wife of an engineer, Durga Mahai. An FIR was lodged at the Kuchinda police station in this regard following which police detained the accused and started investigation into the matter. Sources said during interrogation, the woman confessed to having killed her daughter. Family dispute was suspected to be the reason behind the murder.
