Till now, people have complained of less quantity of fuel or adulterated fuel being dispensed by petrol pumps. But several people had the shock of their lives when water mixed with fuel was dispensed at a filling station at Charbhati in Sambalpur town on Thursday.
The incidence triggered deep resentment and tension prevailed as vehicles of several consumers developed technical snags after they tanked up petrol at the petrol pump.
As soon as the news spread, a crowd gathered outside the filling station and staged a demonstration demanding an impartial probe into the incidence.
Sources said the incidence could be due to water seeping into the storage unit of the filing station. Though the owner of the filling station was asked about the matter, he blamed the HPCl authorities for it. Meanwhile, the district administration has ordered a probe to ascertain the cause behind the incidenct.
