Police on Wednesday arrested an employee of a private finance company and his two friends for stage-managing a robbery of Rs 54,797.
The fake robberry had occurred inr the Charmal police station area in the district on August 12.
While the employee of the private finance firm was identified as Jyotilal Biswal (22) of Kadlipali under the Birmaharajpur police station in Subarnapur district, his two aides were Siba Prasad Biswal (25) of the same village and Gautam Pradhan (25) of Kairapali.
Police also seized two motorbikes, three mobile phones, one tablet and cash of Rs 7,000 and other documents from the possession of the arrested trio.
According to police, on August 12, the accused Jyotilal came to the Charmal PS and reported that he worked in a private finance company at Boudh and two unidentified persons robbed him of Rs 54,797, mobile phone, tablet from him after attacking him near Hementakhol village while he was returning to Boudh.
Subsequently, the cops launched a probe and it was ascertained that the complainant himself had faked the robbery to swindle the money with the help of his friends.
