The Dr Pinnamaneni and Seethadevi Foundation awarded founder of KIIT & KISS, educationist and social entrepreneur Achyuta Samanta at its 24th annual award giving ceremony held at the Siddhartha Academy, Vijayawada on Tuesday.
The foundation observed that Dr Samanta has dedicated his life for uplift of tribal children by providing them free education. It honoured him with a citation and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh in the presence of over 1,500 eminent personalities from India and abroad. Foundation Managing Trustee Dr C Nageswara Rao said no other recipient of the award till now deserved it more than Dr Samanta. After receiving the award, Dr Samanta spoke on the topic ‘Service with Human Touch’.
Past recipients of the award include Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr Verghese Kurien, Prof CNR Rao, Ramanand Sagar, lata Mangeshkar, SP Balasubrahmanyam, Kiran Bedi, Dr Jaya Prakash Narayan, Ustad Zakir Hussain and MS Swaminathan.
