KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta has been conferred with the first-ever Kautilya Award by the Indian Economic Association (IEA).

He was conferred with this prestigious award on the occasion of the 100th annual conference of the IEA held at the Acharya Nagarjun University in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. Nobel Peace Prize winner Prof Muhammad Yunus handed over the award to a representative of Dr Samanta in his absence.

The Kautilya Award recognised the spectacular financial model of the KIIT and KISS and Prof Samanta’s efforts to make the institutions reach the present position with just Rs5,000 as the seed money way back in 1992-93.

In his reaction Dr Samanta said, “I am humbled to be conferred with the first-ever Kautilya Award by the IEA on occasion of its celebration of centenary year”.

President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the IEA’s centenary conference.
