Kandhamal BJD MP Achyuta Samanta met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at his office in New Delhi and gave him a memorandum demanding a railway line to Kandhamal.
The Railway Minister gave an assurance to Samanta to consider his demand. On July 9, the Minister wrote a letter to Railway Standing Committee Joint Secretary Prasanjeet Singh and Railway Board Chairman Sumeet Sharma regarding the longstanding demand of a railway line in Kandhamal.
Samanta is hopeful that new Railway Minister will take speedy action for railway connectivity to tribals-dominated Kandhamal.
