The Samajwadi Party on Wednesday urged the National Tribal Commissioner to intervene in the incident of gang-rape and killing of a 45-year-old tribal widow in Balikuma village under Kankadahada police station in Dhenkanal district and give justice to her family members.
“Criminals raped the widow and inserted an iron rod and a ‘tawa’ handle into her private part. While the women cried and screamed for help, her son, who was sleeping on the rooftop, came down and saw his mother lying nude with full of blood. He called for help and villagers soon gathered. By that time the women was dead. This is no less crime than the gruesome Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case in Delhi. The accused are yet to be arrested,” SP Sate president Rabi Behera informed this to the Commissioner in a letter.
He requested the Commisioner to visit the village and take necessary action so that the poor family can get justice. Besides, he demanded that the family be given compensation of Rs 20 lakh.
