CUTTACK: A girl of Tunapur village under the Salepur police station in the district, who was allegedly raped by a youth a few days ago, died while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital here on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old girl had earlier attempted to commit suicide by hanging herself at her house on March 8. later, she was rushed to a local hospital by her family members and then referred to the SCB Hospital after her condition deteriorated.
The girl had earlier alleged that a youth identified as one Arun Biswal had raped her and also shot some obscene pictures after spiking her drink.
later, Arun allegedly started to blackmail and threaten the girl to post the pictures on internet if she does not accept his demands.
“She had revealed the details to us that the youth used to torture her and threaten her. I demand a thorough investigation and stringent punishment for the youth,” said the girl’s father. Meanwhile, police have arrested the accused youth.
“We have arrested the accused and efforts are on to seize his mobile phone for further investigation. He will be produced in court after completion of medical examination and other formalities,” said Salepur SDPO Pradyumna Kumar Jena.
