The Sonali Palace Flat Owners’ Society has urged the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner to take prompt initiatives to construct a permanent drain from the West End Apartment square to the Jagannath Mandir square so that the drainage and rainwater would pass through the drain instead of on the road.
Society secretary Krupasindhu Biswal said the stretch from the Jagannath Mandir square to the West End Apartment square of Sailasree Vihar has become the discharge ground of drainage water of different apartments. During rains also, the rainwater along with drain water flows on the road making the road a hell to pass through.
“Though the road is an important one connecting Sailasree Vihar to Info City, Chandaka Industrial area and reputed educational Institutes such as KIIT and Silicon Institute, it has no drainage systems,” rued Biswal.
Biswal alleged that though the BMC has started construction of a drain since a few years back, it is yet to be completed. “Hence, we urged the Commissioner to visit the area to take stock of the situation and ensure early construction of a drain,” Biswal said.
