A doctor at the Tensa Hospital, which runs under the Steel Authority of India ltd (SAIl), in Sundargarh district was arrested and court-forwarded by the lahunipada police on Monday afternoon for allegedly stealing two air-conditioners from the hospital.
The arrested was identified as Dr Navish Kumar (45), who resides in Tensa colony. Notably, two ACs worth around Rs1.30 lakh were procured and kept in the Tensa hospital in response to the demand of the labour union. However, the ACs suddenly went missing from the hospital. Following an FIR lodged by hospital in-charge Dr Debasis Dutta, the police started investigation.
Acting on tip-off, the police on Sunday went to the doctor’s house and found one of the two stolen ACs. As the doctor was not available at his house, the cops brought his servant to police station. During interrogation, he confessed that as per the instruction of the doctor, the ACs have been taken to his house. On Monday, when the doctor reached his house, the police arrested him and seized another AC from the house.
