nA life-size statue of legendary freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai would be unveiled in front of the VSS Airport here on his 113th birth anniversary on Saturday (January 23).
The MCL has taken all the responsibility for the installation of the statue. The statue would be inaugurated by Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan with Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi being present in virtual mode.
State Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari, Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Kumar Mohanty and MCL CMD Prabhat Kumar Sinha were present at a meeting held here on Friday for preparations for unveiling of the statue. VSS Airport Director Kishore Kumar Senapati said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated airport on September 22, 2018 and the State Government named the airport after Veer Surendra Sai, freedom fighter of region. From then, efforts were made to instal a life-size statue of Sai in the airport complex.
