'Sadhu' enters Barsa's house to 'solve' marital discord

A self-proclaimed saffron-clad god man landed in trouble on Saturday after he forced himself into the house of Barsa Swony Choudhury here claiming that he had mysterious powers to drive away all evils.

The man, in his mid fifties, entered the house at Bhoisahi in afternoon when Barsa’s father KK Choudhury was absent. He claimed that he had power to solve the marital discord that led to straining of relationship between the Choudhury’s and the family of former Minister Raghunath Mohanty.

It may be recalled that Barsa lodged an FIR last month alleging dowry torture by her husband Raja Shree Mohanty and in-laws, including Raghunath Mohanty. The former Minister and his wife and Raja Shree were lodged in jail till they were granted bails by court.

On information by KK Choudhury, the so-called god man was taken into custody by the Town police before being let off after Choudhury requested the police to leave him if nothing was found against him.

Town police station IIC UC Garnaik informed, “During the interrogation, the man gave different names and addresses for him and told different stories. Finally, he told his name as Maharaja Divyasundar Narayan Bhanjdeo. We found that he was erratic in behaviour; so, we left him.”
