Sad that Opp fails to admit Govt efforts: BJD

Published on:

In reaction to the opposition parties’ attack on the State Government for its alleged failure to tackle the situation arising out of the Cyclone Titli and the subsequent floods, the ruling BJD on Saturday said, “It is very unfortunate that some political parties don’t want to give credit to those volunteers, Government employees and People's representatives who have worked day and night to evacuate more than three lakh people.”

The BJD in a statement said, “Over the past 18 years, Cyclone Titli has been the second biggest tragedy (in the State) after Phailin. Though Hudhud was there, its impact was seen mainly in Andhra Pradesh. The Titli’s wind velocity was at 165 km/hour and it was a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm. What it could have caused and what it caused is before people to judge.”

“It is very unfortunate that some political parties don’t want to give credit to the volunteers, Government employees and people's representatives who have worked day and night to evacuate more than three lakh people. It is very unfortunate and sad about the landslide that happened in Gajapati district, about 200 km away from the coast that led to loss of precious human lives,” the statement added.
